What a wonderful day for Korfball! Korfball is a ball game that originated in The Netherlands. It has similarities to netball and basketball. The children loved every minute of this game.
Below are some photos of the children playing Korfball. The other children in the hub got to play cricket and lawn bowls. These three sports will be happening every Thursday for the next three weeks.

Ferrymead
On Tuesday 29th October 2019, the children from Tumu Hub stepped back in time to experience what New Zealand was like in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
The children found out first hand what education was like back then, they got to wash clothes by hand, take a tram ride, play with olden day toys and they even got to go to the tiny cinema there and watch a movie about life in New Zealand back in the 1940s. A definite highlight was playing the game, "The Money or the Bag." It was a memorable day that has helped our PBL to come alive.
Thank you to all the parents who helped us on the day.

New Zealand Institute of Sport
Today, the children from Tumu Hub were treated to an action packed sports morning. They took part in mutli sports, gum boot throwing, tackling practise and even a tug of war challenge....which the Year 6 children won!
Here are a variety of photos from the day. Thank you to Millie and Junior from The New Zealand Institute of Sport for planning such a fun programme for the children.

PBL Innovation Challenges
This week, the children in Tumu Hub have been working collaboratively to invent devices and clothing out of limited resources. The children needed to be innovative, be problem solvers and tap into their creative sides in order to be successful.
They had to create balloon snatchers, marble runs and clothing.
Please check out the photos below to see some of this in action.

Term 2 reward system
Thank you for all your hard work in Tumu this term. As part of Hui students suggested that we had a marble jar as a reward system. Each time they did something above and beyond they received a marble in the jar. When the jar was full we decided on our reward.
For our reward we had a choice between watching a movie, playing board games or completing art activities. We had a great last day of term.
Enjoy a well deserved holiday break and we look forward to seeing you all next term,
Tumu teachers.
